From the very beginning, our goal has not been solely to train monks for leadership in social service or merely to produce teachers. Instead, we have continuously and will continue to engage in social services alongside our student monks for the greater good of society. Various programs are implemented in alignment with the evolving needs of contemporary society, and fostering shifts in social perceptions is one of the key social services undertaken by our institution.
Through the spiritual development of individuals, we aim to cultivate strong, virtuous individuals, ultimately fostering a society that upholds principles and discipline.
ආරම්භයේ දී ම ඉලක්ක කරගත් අරමුණ වන සමාජ සේවයෙහි භික්ෂූ නායකත්වයට භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා පුහුණු කිරීම පමණක්ම හෝ, ගුරුවරයකු බිහි කිරීම ම පමණක් පරමාර්ථය කොට නොගත් අප, මේ වනතුරුත් ඉදිරියටත් සමාජ සේවාවන් ද පොදු සමාජය වෙනුවෙන් ශිෂ්‍ය භික්ෂූන් වහන්සෙලා ද සමඟ එක් ව සිදු කරන්නෙමු.

Our institution provides comprehensive training to monks, equipping them with the leadership skills necessary for social service. This includes guidance on how to collaborate with laypersons and benefactors, understanding the expectations society has of a Buddhist monk, and cultivating the appropriate demeanor and conduct befitting monastic life.
A primary focus is on shaping the monastic lifestyle, emphasizing essential practices, traditions, and, most importantly, the disciplined way of life required for a monk. Additionally, we are committed to producing the highest number of educators for the pirivena sector in Sri Lanka, dedicated to training monks for both monastic leadership and a disciplined monastic life. It is important to highlight that our institution holds a leading position in this field and carries the responsibility of maintaining these high standards.

The origins of Sri Lankan monastic education trace back to the arrival of Arahant Mahinda in Sri Lanka. Since the Anuradhapura era, monastic education has undergone various transformations, facing challenges, setbacks, and periods of decline, yet continuing to evolve to the present day.
The pirivena education system aspires to cultivate a well-rounded monastic life, and to fulfill this vision, our institution trains monks to take on the crucial role of Pirivenacharya (monastic educators). Through practical teacher training and by fostering exemplary monks, we instill a deep commitment to the Buddhist Order in novice monks.
In modern times, we also address pressing challenges such as the increasing number of monks leaving monastic life and the hesitation of monks to assume leadership roles in the face of social violence and conflicts. Strengthening monastic leadership and revitalizing the pirivena education system remain our primary objectives.
ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය ආරාමික අධ්‍යාපනයේ මූලාරම්භය සිදු වූයේ මිහිඳු මහරතන් වහන්සේගේ ලංකාගමනයත් සමඟ ය. අනුරාධපුර යුගයෙන් ඇරඹි ආරාමික අධ්‍යාපනය විවිධ වෙනස්කම් වලට, හැල හැප්පීම් හා කඩා වැටීම් වලට ලක් වෙමින් මේ දක්වා පැමිණ ඇත. පිරිවෙන් අධ්‍යාපනය තුළින් පරිපූර්ණ භික්ෂුත්වයක් ගොඩ නැගීම පිරිවෙන් අධ්‍යාපන අංශයේ බලාපොරොත්තුව වන අතර එම අරමුණ සාක්ෂාත් කිරීමට පරිවෙණාචාර්‍ය සේවය නම් භාර ධුර කාර්‍යය ඉටු කිරීමට භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා අප ආයතනය මගින් පුහුණු කරනු ලබයි.

පිරිවෙන් ගුරු පුහුණු ඩිප්ලෝමා පායමාලාව
ගුරුවරයකු යනු ශිෂ්‍යයන්ට අවශ්‍ය මග උපදෙස් ලබා දෙමින් ශිෂ්‍යයාට නිවැරදි මග දක්වන කෙනා ය. අද සිටින ගුරුවරයා හෙට අනාගතය තීරණය කරනු ලබයි. මින් පෙර සිටි ගුරුවරුන් නිසා වත්මනේ ඔබ අප සියල්ලෝම මේ සිටින ස්ථානවල සිටින්නෙමු. ඉදිරියේ දී මුණ ගැසෙන ගුරුවරුන් නිසාවෙන් අප ඉදිරියට ගමන් කරන්නෙමු.
එසේ භාරධුර කාර්‍යයක් ඉටු කරන ගුරුවරයා ස්වකීය චරිතය හෙවත් ගුරු භූමිකාව මනාව පවත්වාගෙන යා යුතු ය. අප ආයතනයට අනුව නම් ගුරුවරයා හැකි හැම අයුරින් ම උත්සහ කොට 100% සාර්ථය විය යුතු ම ය. එය ගුරුවරයා සතු වගකීමයි.
ශිෂ්‍යයකු ගුරුවරයකු වෙත භාර කරන්නේ ශිෂ්‍යයා නිවැරදි මගෙහි ගමන් කිරීමට නිසි මග පෙන්වීමට යි. ඒ නිසා මෙම ගුරු භූමිකාව භික්ෂුවක් තුළ අපූරුවට ගොඩ නැගීමට අප ආයතනය සහ කථිකාචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය ප්‍රමුඛත්වය දෙනු ලබයි.

ඒ සඳහා වසර තුනක නියමිත වැඩ පිළිවෙලක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කෙරෙන අතර ඒ සඳහා ප්‍රධාන අංග දෙකක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබයි. ඉන් පළමුවැන්න පිරිවෙන් ගුරු පුහුණු ඩිප්ලෝමා පායමාලාවත්, දෙවැන්න අධ්‍යාපනවේදී (පිරිවෙන්) ගෞරව උපාධි පාඨමාලාවත් ය.
